She obtained a BA in Product Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, during which she was the valedictorian of the School of Design 19' and was an exchange student at the Economics Summer Programme at Girton College, University of Cambridge. Her pursuit of design and creativity has rewarded her with multiple awards and scholarships, including the UAL International Post-graduate Scholarship, the Most Outstanding PolyU Student 18', the D. H. Chen Foundation, HSBC Hong Kong and the First Initiative Foundation Design Scholarship, the 2019 Champion of HKRMA Green Hackathon and the We Are Water Foundation Roca Design Award.
A creative practitioner with an experimental spirit, Cindy co-founded Deep Food with her partner, Heinrik NG (PolyU, SD, 16'), catalysing the emergence of edible design as a new creative discipline of knowledge and practice.
Deep Food is "Food for Thought", a creative studio that deploys multi-sensory food design and edible experiences to promote art and culture. The studio extends the value of edibles as a content medium. The studio designs creative programmes ranging from immersive exhibition experiences to multi-sensory performances and creative workshops for a roster of institutional or corporate clients. Sometimes, Deep Food promotes cultural diversity with witty blends of Yuen Yeung; at other times, the studio challenges eaters' preconceptions with bizarre bread twisted from conventional local recipes.
Deep Food has been supported by the HKDC Design Incubation Programme and UAL Creative Business Accelerator. Their recent clients include the Oi! art space, the M+ Museum, the Art and Promotion Office of LCSD, UABB, Detour PMQ, the Mills and more. Their works were showcased overseas by the UAL Creative Business Accelerator Demo Day, the Festival of Applied Imagination and Culture/ Enterprise Symposium 21, UK and locally at the Business of Design Week. They were featured in the books "好好吃飯(literally: Eat Well)" by Mr Lui Ka Chun and "Design Beyond Food" by UOVO Design; the latter is the first Chinese book on food design across the globe, in which Deep Food was mentioned as one of "the most representative food designers in the international food design field" alongside five other pioneering veterans who defined contemporary food design. The Dutch Institute of Food & Design, Tatler, Arts Thread UK, TimeOut, Radio Television Hong Kong and more also reported Deep Food.
