Environmental Design | Interior Designer
After graduating from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Environment and Interior Design in 2015. Her works across from objects, furniture, spatial design and community design, which have received 2018 DFA Design for Asia Awards Merit Award, 2021 Frame Awards – Interior of the Month October 2020, 2021 Dezeen Awards - Winner of the public vote sector and 40 under 40 Awards in 2022. And the furniture project of ‘Modern Steel-Hexagonal Container, with Slate Curtain’ was exhibited in Design Inspire 2019 and Milan Design Week 2022. She is also the winner of DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award in 2022 and ‘40 under 40 Awards’ in 2022.
Isa practiced material-driven projects in art & installation projects and also commercial projects, and her strength is demonstrated in her ‘HKPI Headquarters’ project, which expresses the company’s philosophy of putting people first through visual, spatial and functional details. Her attention to details is reflected in the office décor, from door handles and light switches to ceiling lights, wall panels, furniture, glass bricks, and washbasins. ‘Modern Steel Hexagonal Container, with Slate Curtain’ is a jewellery cabinet which combines metal, wood, and stone with modern craftsmanship to create a distinctive work of art. It was exhibited in Design Inspire 2019 and Milan Design Week 2022.The design philosophy of ‘To discover, not to create’ gives Isa a strong impact on her early design career. And becomes her design belief, to discover the relations between people and space, and to discover materiality through craftsmanship and technology.
Isa believe design as dialogue, an expression lies in materiality. She keens on exploring materiality through craftsmanship, modern technology and aesthetic to unfold design with sentiment and touch. Rather to design space, it is more about to design an experience through spatial atmosphere to connect people.
