Brian Kwok is an Associate Professor at the School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he serves as the Programme Leader of Information Design and Leader of the Information Design Lab. He specializes in street ethnography, exploring the relationship between urban life and visual communication. His notable publications include Fading Neon Lights and the City of Scripts series, which focus on local lettering craftsmanship and signboard visual culture.
Beyond research, he leads the lab in practical consultancy projects, such as healthcare information design and urban wayfinding systems. Brian received his design education in the United States and pursued advanced studies in visual culture and communication in Hong Kong. His research interests bridge the gap between local visual culture and communication design applications.
