Born in 1980s Hong Kong, Dylan Kwok’s multicultural journey began in Vancouver and Toronto before joining Burdifilek, contributing to high-end projects. Drawn to Nordic design philosophy, he moved to Finland, earning a Master’s from Aalto University with a thesis award. His diverse experiences fueled a passion for public space creation.

Returning to Hong Kong in 2009 as a Young Design Talent Award recipient, he collaborated with local universities. In 2017, his “Hack-a-Bench” concept revolutionized public seating. His work, including “Station by the Sea,” gained international recognition at events like the Okunoto Art Triennale. In 2022, he exhibited at the Guangdong Nanhai Art Festival.

A hands-on creator, he operates BOAF, a non-profit community space in Mong Kok’s flower market empowering youth through art, design and crafts. Since 2019, he has apprenticed under Master Chan Lok Choi, the city’s last birdcage craftsman, to preserve this intangible cultural heritage, culminating in the 2023 book Open Birdcages.
