Dr Elita Lam is the Vice Principal of the Hong Kong Design Institute and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee) of Vocational Training Council (VTC), which is the leading vocational and professional education and training (VPET) statutory body in Hong Kong.

 

Dr LAM has held previously several key positions at the Vocational Training Council (VTC), such as Head of Academic Development and Head of Department of Fashion and Image Design at the Hong Kong Design Institute. She has received a number of awards and honours for her research and innovative design, including the International Council of Design (ICoD) Education Award in 2022 and Fellowship from the Textile Institute in 2020. Her research in the biomechanics of footwear design has earned her a patent in 2019, whilst her smart clothing design won awards in the Red Dot Design Concept and International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva in 2018. She also received recognition with the Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Award in 2017 for her publication on natural dye. As leader of the HKDI Knowledge Centre, her has recently been focusing on incorporating innovative material design and sustainability practices into learning and teaching.
