Young Design Talent Special Mention Award
Apparel & Accessory Design| Graduate of HKDI (Fashion)
A recent graduate of the Hong Kong Design Institute’s Department of Fashion and Image Design, Ingrid takes the materials she uses to come up with new designs seriously. For her graduation project, named after a “Moth” from which the fashion designer took inspiration, the line reminds us of the insect’s colours and patterns, and such forms are made possible with up to 80% merino wool, which is a naturally renewable fiber. The yarns are knitted, woven, or knitted first and then woven together for colour contrast or texture. The project was awarded the Overall Winner in the graduation show. Ingrid hopes to work on sustainable fashion, encompassing greener materials as well as low-carbon-footprint and socially responsible production methods.
