Awardees of Design Practitioners may receive a financial sponsorship up to HK$500,000 (Award 1) or HK$250,000 (Award 2) to undertake work at renowned design companies outside Hong Kong.
Awardees of Design Graduates may receive a financial sponsorship up to HK$250,000 (Award 2-4) to undertake work at renowned design companies or study outside Hong Kong,
OR to undertake work at renowned companies specialising in venue or related design services for hospitality industry (such as hotels / food and beverage venues) outside Hong Kong (Award 5).
Awardee of Award 6 will not receive financial sponsorship but recognition as encouragement.
Undertakings
Awardees of Design Practitioners granted with sponsorship under the:
1/ CreateSmart Young Design Talent Award Design
2/ CreateSmart Young Design Talent Special Award
will be required to:
- Undergo work in renowned design companies outside Hong Kong for 6 to 12 months.
- Commence the approved work by end of September 2027

4/ PolyU School of Design Young Design Talent Award
will be required to:
- Undergo work in renowned design companies outside Hong Kong for 6 to 12 months/ study abroad for 6 to 18 months.
- Commence the approved work by end of September 2027 / study by end of February 2028.

Awardees of Design Graduates granted with sponsorship under the:
5/ André Fu Young Design Talent Award
will be required to:
- Undergo work in renowned design companies specialising in venue design or related design services for hospitality industry (such as hotels / food and beverage venues) outside Hong Kong for 6 to 12 months.
- Commence the approved work by end of September 2027.

Awardees granted with sponsorship will be required to:
- Submit documentations including but not limited to a detailed proposal, budget plan, reports and other documents as required for approval by the organiser and sponsor;
- Contribute to the development of Hong Kong’s design and creative industries by returning to Hong Kong within THREE months after the completion of their undertakings and working for a Hong Kong design business for not less than TWO consecutive years; simultaneously, to provide annual written report with updates of my work and future; planning for TWO consecutive years;
- Hence, upon returning to Hong Kong, the awardee of the André Fu Young Design Talent Award will be offered regular mentorship sessions with André Fu over a two-year period, subject to the sponsor’s availability.
All awardees will:
- Become the ambassadors of DFA HKYDTA and share their work /study design experience outside Hong Kong with the organiser or sponsors etc.
Sponsorship Coverage (for Awards 1-5)
Awardees may receive a sponsorship up to HK$500,000 (Awards 1) or HK$250,000 (Awards 2-5). Subject to the maximum amount of the award concerned, the award covers the costs directly related to the overseas plan including (where appropriate):
- Airfares (round-trip economy class)
- Lodging
- Living expenses
- Any other costs approved by the organiser
Please note that:
- Recipients of individual awards are required to meet the relevant prescribed requirements. The arrangements for overseas work / study plan may be subject to different terms and conditions, depending on the award concerned.
- In order to be granted the Award, the Awardees shall execute an Acceptance and Undertaking in a form as stipulated by HKDC. If the Awardees shall be in breach of or fail to comply with any provisions stated under the Acceptance and Undertaking, HKDC and/or sponsor shall have the right to rescind the Award.
