Melody Siu

Melody is a Senior Architect at One Bite Design Studio and a recipient of the DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award in 2021.She is passionate about crafting innovative spatial solutions that yield positive social impact.
Her expertise lies in community-oriented design and placemaking, and she believes that architecture should serve the city, its inhabitants, and the environment, rather than the other way around. Notable projects she has completed include Siu Hei Court Play Space and Ming Tak Sports Court.
During the overseas work commitment, Melody spent the first half of the year in London at IF_DO and the latter half in Rotterdam at MLA+, where she explored how participatory design principles could be adopted on architectural and urban scales. At IF_DO she completed a community engagement best practice guide and proposed a community engagement overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work; at MLA+ she was exposed to the concept of 'Ego to Eco' and studied how Doughnut Economics, a sustainable economic model that seeks to balance human needs within the ecological constraints of the planet, could be interpreted in urban and architectural practice. She hopes to further expand on her concept of Conscious Design, where community and ecological needs are prioritised.
