Born and raised in Hong Kong, So Ching Ching is an architect whose practice reframes spatial design through soft, sensory elements like light, vegetation, fabric, air, and memory, rather than rigid concrete and mortar.
A CUHK graduate, she built a strong foundation in design development and project management working across local practices and Swire Properties. Since 2023, she has been based at Kengo Kuma and Associates in Tokyo, leading large-scale mixed-use and hospitality projects across Asia from concept design and material research to execution, combining environmental context with Japanese construction rigor.
Her work also spans urban innovation. As part of an award-winning team, she received Second Prize in the Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok Urban Renewal Design Competition with 'The City Blooms where Waters Flow,' a proposal blending street history with AI tools to create a resilient prototype for urban regeneration. Looking ahead, So explores the intersection of architecture and fashion through fabric, flexible structures, and human scale. Viewing clothing as the body's first skin and architecture as its second, she reimagines materials to form a spatial language that balances technical precision with warmth
